Govt Degree College CelebratesNational Science Day

Govt Degree College Kilhotran celebrated National Science Day 2022 by organising an intra-college essay writing competition on the topic "Science as a Source of Sustainability". The event was conducted by the collaboration of the college Literary Activities Committee, Departments of Zoology and Department of Botany, under overall supervision of Principal Govt Degree College Kilhotran, Dr. Javid Iqbal. The programme began with pep speech of the Principal in which he apprised students with the importance of science in everybody's daily lives and motivated them to take part in the event to express their analytical and descriptive skills. Many students participated in the essay competition. However, the jury of senior faculty members viz. Dr. Barket Ali (HoD Botany), Dr Wahied Khawar Balwan (HoD Zoology) and Prof. Ashwani Kumar (HoD Hindi) adjudged Shakeel Ahmed (Sem III), Nazish Akhter (Sem III) and Arjumand Sahil (Sem V) as first, second and third toppers respectively. Other close competitors were Ashish Kumar (Sem II) and Waseem Ahmed (Sem II). The programme was managed by Prof. Mohd Saleem-HoD Economics and convener Literary Activities Committee with co-operation of all the committee members viz Prof. Yasar Arfat Beigh (HoD Arabic), Prof. Yasar Ahmed (HoD Persian), Dr. Barket Ali (HoD Urdu). Prof.Arshad Ayoub (HoD Political Science) provided an able technical support to the organising committee.

152 nd Gandhi Jayanti Celebrations Culminate at Govt. Degree College, Kilhotran

Gandhi Jayanti is an event celebrated in India to mark the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi Ji. It is celebrated annually on 2 nd October, and is one of the three national holidays of India. October 2 nd is also, globally observed as an International Day of Non-Violence. To commemorate Gandhi Jayanti Govt Degree College, Kilhotran under the supervision of Principal Dr Javid Iqbal organized a series of events viz Online Essay Writing Competition (Under Shikshit Bharat), Cleanliness drive (Under Swatch Bahart Mission), Poster Making and Slogan writing Competition (Under Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav). The events culminated today with the prize distribution ceremony. Prizes were distributed among the first position holder of each event by the chief guest of the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Doda, Mr. Vikas Sharma. The chief guest also administered the swachhta pledge in which College students, faculty and various officials of different department participated. The event was hosted by Prof Mohd Saleem and Dr Barket Ali presented the formal vote of thanks. The event concluded with cleanliness drive flagged by Deputy Commissioner Doda. The cleanliness drive was organized by the College in collaboration with Nehru Yuva Kendra.

Online Essay Writing Competition Result Declared

27 th June, 2020: - Today the result of Online Essay Writing Competition organized yesterday by GDC Kilhotran on the eve of International Day Against Drug Abuse and Their Illicit Trafficking on the theme of “Drug Abuse and Their Illicit Trafficking” was declared by Principal Prof. (Dr) Javid Iqbal. In the event students from various colleges had submitted their write ups online. These write ups were evaluated by Mr. Rafiq Beigh, Lecturer Dept. of Environmental Sciences, Mr. Nasir Wani, and Mr. Naseer Baba both Lecturers from Dept. of English. The event was organized by Arshad Ayoub, Asst Professor Political Science under the supervision of Principal Prof. (Dr) Javid Iqbal. In the event merit E-Certificates were awarded to Qazim Javed Zargar from GDC Kishtwar, Shahid Saleem from GDC Thathri who secured First and Second Position respectively while Third position was shared by Rubia Naz from GDC Thathri and Aisha Ishaq Mir from GDC Kilhotran. All other participants were awarded appreciation E-Certificates for participating in the event and securing above the benchmark criteria of issuing E-Certificates set by the Organizing Committee. Speaking on the occasion Principal Prof. (Dr) Javid Iqbal congratulated the organizing committee for successful culmination of the event besides he also congratulated all the participants for their participation and wished the best for future endeavors.

Govt Degree College Kilhotran, Bhalessa organised a Webinar Cum Online Symposium on the eve of World Environment Day 2021on the topic "Need and Importance of Ecosystem Restoration". The event took place under the patronage of Dr. Javid Iqbal, Principal Govt Degree College Kilhotran. In his welcome address, Dr. Javid Iqbal, besides apprecaiting the turning up of guests, faculty members and student speakers and student attendees in the event, he shared his valuable insights on the concept of ecosystem restoration. He also tried to mobilise interests of the attendees towards taking up charge in rehabilitation and restoration of degrading ecosystems through statistical international comparisons. A thought-provoking keynote address was presented by Mr. Chander Shekhar (ACF), DFO Bhaderwah. His talk was ornamented by localised eye opening facts and figures about harmful impacts of climate change caused due to ecosystem imbalances. Moreover, seven (07) student speakers, consisting of 06 from GDC Kilhotran itself and 01 from GDC Doda gave their thrilling and succint speaches on the stated topic. Shafkat Ali, Mehvish Akhter and Abade Rashid, all from GDC Kilhotran won first, second and third positions respectively. Besides teaching faculty and some guests from without the institution, the webinar was attended by 86 students of GDC Kilhotran. The whole programme was co-organised by Literary Academic Activities Committee and Department of Environmental Science of GDC Kilhotran.The proceeding of the sessions was moderated by Prof. Mohd Saleem (HoD Economics) Convener Literary Academic Activities Committee GDC Kilhotran. The judges of the programme were Dr. Barket Ali (HoD Urdu) and Mr. Rafiq Ahmed Beigh (HoD Environmental Science) of GDC Kilhotran. Other notable personalities who worked in one or the other capacity to make the event successful were Prof. Yasar Arfat Beigh (HoD Arabic), Prof Yasar Ahmed (HoD Persian) and Prof. Jozi Ferhan (Asstt.Prof. in History). GDC Kilhotran observed International Youth Day

International Youth Day is observed globally every year on 12 th of August to sensitise and mobilize youth across globe to make aware the general mass in general and youth in particular about the challenges being faced by the humanity. On the eve of International Youth Day Red Ribbon Club of Govt. Degree College, Kilhotran in collaboration with J&K AIDS Control Society organized an online painting competition on the themeof “Role of Youth in Fight Against COVID-19”. In the event students from GDC Kilhotran, GDC Thathri & GDC Doda displayed their talent of painting. The event was organized by MrArshadAyoub, Nodal Officer, Red Ribbon Club GDC Kilhotran with active support of MrYasarArfatBeigh, Asst. Prof. Arabic, and MrMohdSaleem Asst. Prof. Economics. In the eventMrAbade Rashidbagged First position, while Ms Aisha Ishaq Mir & Ms Sumaya Rather got Second and Third Positionrespectively.All the top three positions were grabbed by the students of GDC Kilhotran. Other notable performers were ; Tahir Zama(GDC Doda), RubiaNaz (GDC Thathri), MeenakshiThakur (GDC Thathri), Ajay Singh (GDC Kilhotran), Mukesh Kumar (GDC Kilhotran) and ShahidSaleem (GDC Thathri).The entire event was organized under the overall supervision of Principal Dr. JavidIqbal who declared the result and announced the proposed cash prize of Rs 1500, Rs 1000, Rs 500 for First, Second and Third Position holders respectively. He hailedRed Ribbon Club of College for their efforts and successfully organizing the event. Besides, he also appreciated the interest and talent of students. He also thanked J&K Aids Control Society for cooperating and collaborating with the College for Organizing this event and making it a successful one.

Govt Degree College Kilhotran, Bhalessa organised a Webinar in collaboration with Bombay Stock Exchange and Central Depository Services (India) Limited on the theme "Basics of Capital Market" today on 12.07.2021. The event took place under the patronage of Dr. Javid Iqbal, Principal Govt Degree College Kilhotran. In his welcome address, Dr. Javid Iqbal, besides apprecaiting the turning up of guests, faculty members and student speakers and student attendees in the event, he shed light on the significance of financial literacy in modern times. Mr. Harbinder Singh Sokhi, Manager BSE IPF spoke elaborately on investment opportunities in capital market with special focus on Mutual Funds Investment as one of the best investment options for the small savers especially students. Mr. Sabzar Ahmed deliberated on financial services being provided by CDSL, particularly demat account. After the two presentations, a question-answer session was also conducted in which the experts cleared many doubts of the students regarding financial management. The programme was observed by 96 students. Besides faculty members of GDC Kilhotran, Prof Kazim Syed, Asstt Prof Economics GDC Doda and Prof. Majid Gani Zarger, HoD Economics GDC Thathri also graced the event with their participation. Overall coordination and moderation of the proceedings was performed by the convenor Literary cum Acadmic Activities Committee cum HoD Economics GDC Kilhotran, Prof Mohd Saleem, who also presented vote of thanks at the end of programme.

An Online Essay writing competition was organized on the theme of “Drug Abuse & Their Illicit Trafficking”. In the event students from GDC Kilhotran, GDC Doda, GDC Bhaderwah, GDC Kishtwar and GDC Thathri participated and submitted their write up. The write ups will be adjudged by Mr. Rafiq Beigh, Lecturer Dept. of Environmental Sciences, Mr. Nasir Wani, and Mr. Naseer Baba both Lecturers from Dept. of English, tomorrow on June 27, 2020. The Event was organized by Mr. Arshad Ayoub, Assistant Professor, Dept of Political Science with active support from the jury. In the event top three participants would be awarded merit Certificates. Besides all the participants who secure above 70% would be awarded E-Certificates. The entire event was organized under the supervision of College Principal Prof. (Dr) Javid Iqbal. He congratulated all the participants and organizing committee members for their active role and making the event a successfull one. An awareness campaign was also organized within the premises of GDC Kilhotran in which commuters and students were made aware about the harmful impacts of illicit Drugs by Principal Prof. (Dr) Javid Iqbal along with other staff members.
